In March 2019, St Kilda Mums put out the call to their supporters, asking for help raising $250,000 to assist in renting a new HQ in Clayton. They had a fantastic community response to this campaign, and achieved their fundraising goals. They moved into the new premises in May, and now have three times the space available for storage of donations.
Man With A Van donated two moving crews with two Large Trucks to help the team with the relocation.
The Mums are a cherished local not-for-profit, providing preloved nursery goods to Victorian families in need. They do this by collecting, sorting and redistributing clothing, books and toys for babies and schoolchildren.
Man With A Van has provided transport support to St Kilda Mums for many years, sending trucks and movers free of charge to help move donated items on an ad hoc basis.
When The Mums got in contact to request help for their biggest job yet, the relocation to their new location in Clayton, the MWAV crew were happy to lend a hand.
“Here at MWAV we're always keen to help out with terrific community initiatives. The work that St Kilda Mums does - providing donated children’s goods to families in need - is of great value to the community,” MWAV director Tim Bishop said.
“We’re always keen to help out a cause which is good for the environment, and recycling these kind of goods prevents a whole lot of waste.
“We’ve also found The Mums to be highly organised and professional, which makes working out what services we can donate, and planning the moves, a breeze — the relocation into their new premises, while a lot bigger than jobs we’ve previously done for them, went smoothly as ever.”
The two Large Trucks and four movers provided by MWAV managed to get the bulk of St Kilda Mums items shifted into the new Clayton location.
“Man With A Van are such a generous company,” said St Kilda Mums founder Jessica Macpherson.
“They always say yes when we ask them for help. It’s people like this who prove that the business of business is doing good!”
